Yet they have been quite on the subject. Since you made an assumption I will make one and say that Walmart was just as involved with the discussions as Vudu. Therefore, I will listen to what they tell me.

In my opinion if you own a movie on VHS and it is available on DVD or Blu-ray and you are trying to convert it D2D you must not really like it enough to spend money to get a better picture and sound quality. With that said the only VHS's movies I own anymore are Titanic and Indiana Jones Trilogy and I them on DVD and Blu-ray also.

Wow, I really sparked a debate by posting that link, didn't I? And no one even cared to discuss what I was wanting to discuss, the purported availability of 100,000 titles! What do you think??

More is better! I doubt I can watch that many movies in my lifetime though. But the more movies they have the more people they will appeal to.

My family is more interested in having more television content and having D2D for telelvision. I don't recall seeing anything about TV in that article though.

Crazy. I was getting ready to start a new thread about CES because this one no longer seemed to be about CES. I think it's great all the new titles. It still seems odd that some major titles are not UV or even digitally available (Gremlins, The Color Purple, etc...) hopefully with all those 100,000 titles some of everyone's wishlist titles will be included. Something I noticed when using the Cinemanow's D2D software was that Earth Girls are Easy, which is not UV anywhere as far as I can tell, popped up with a UV symbol next to it (but said not available to convert). Most movies that pop up like and are unavailable do not have the symbol next to it. Earth Girls is an MGM title, so I guess they are preparing for their role out?

Converting VHS tapes is the same as converting a DVD. Price is $2 for SD and $5 for HD.

Continue any further discussions in my new thread I started today for Disc-to-Digital includes VHS.

Negative. I want a link to a website that says what it costs to convert a VHS tape, or even a picture of a sign in a store. I'm not interested in what your opinion is.

So you want to keep this thread going...is that so you can argue with me in two threads...double your pleasure so to speak?

No thanks...let's move this to the thread I started. But be warned that I am not interested in continuing the arguing so you may just be wasting your time with any further pointless comments. In the other thread I have responded to the prices and the documentation being reprinted.

Pointless comments? I'm just asking you to show me a website that has VHS on it. Can you do that? I see nothing about VHS anywhere except for hearsay.

That is exactly my point...I posted three different links (2 of the same USA Today article) and I have been trying to explain to you guys what the D2D fees are really for but to no avail.

I think it's funny how an article that tells us about Vudu's at home D2D and MGM titles being available is accepted as truth, yet another that tells us that Walmart themselves say that we can use VHS tapes for D2D is rejected as false. I could understand if we were talking about the National Enquirer.

The at home D2D and MGM are announcements of what is yet to come. There's nothing to doubt at this time. You are stating that VHS is already here, and you can't give me any Vudu link to support your story. There's nothing to state that D2D@home is here now, either. I don't expect any of it to be available right now.

I understand. I too was in doubt last month when I first asked the question. I would have to say that it's strange that Walmart (more that Vudu) doesn't even know about this. But then again, many of them still don't know what Vudu is and how to do D2D even with a DVD.

This doesn't change the fact that WALMART THEMSELVES said that we could bring VHS tapes in for D2D. USA Today reported this and they are not going to print something (and a second reporting agency isn't going to carry their story either) if it's not true. Like me, what to they have to gain by lying. They interviewed an official spokesperson from Walmart. That is her job, to speak for the company. But she cannot make us listen if we don't want to hear.

USA Today can be misinformed. It is possible that things are printed in error. Just because you read it in the USA Today, doesn't make it true. Heck, it could've even been true at the time of printing, but not any more.

All of that is beside the point. If the associate does not believe that VHS tapes are eligible, then you're not getting it, period. You can show him all the USA Today articles you want. I called Vudu today, and Vudu itself told me only Blu Rays and DVDs are eligible. If you can't show the associate their own website (Vudu or Walmart) to back your claim, you're not going to get it done. My dispute is not what you said earlier today. We can't all talk to Sarah Spencer in a cab. It doesn't do any associate any good until they see it in their own instructions.

jeffpn, I think you are being very harsh on one of our own members, who is going out of his way to find out some information that will be very helpful to a lot of people who have VHS collections. We should be excited. And guess what, there is nothing in the official literature that says HD-DVD's are eligible either, but many people have been taking them to Wal-Mart and getting them added to their vudu account. And you say that if the Wal-Mart associate doesn't find proof that VHS is accepted on the vudu website, then they won't provide the D2D service. You are very wrong about that, because it worked for him. And it worked for one of my friends too. I think you should cool it, you have made your point. Who are you tryiing to convice. It doesn't matter. Just wait for official confirmation.
